***Health Reminder***
There are some students that have really been coughing this week. Several students have been picking their noses and others have been coughing uncovered, or directly into their hands. Could you please talk to your child about how we need to cover our mouth when we cough or sneeze and use a kleenex for our noses. Thank you for your help in keeping the germs down.
Your child has a December packet in their folder. This is optional work, but we encourage them to try. The packet does not need to come back. Please keep it at home.
Students learned a new word this week. The word is ‘like’. Have your child write a sentence using the word ‘like’. Don’t forget to capitalize the first letter and put a period or another kind of punctuation mark at the end. The words that we have learned so far are I, see, my, like, and we.
We have been reading different versions of the gingerbread man stories. The students have been discussing what is the same and what is different in the stories. They have really enjoyed hearing the stories.
The gingerbread man stories have inspired our centers for this week. Students made a watercolor gingerbread man. They labeled the parts of a gingerbread man. The students also made two books. One was adding gingerbread people and the other was a prepositional book.
We have noticed that quite a few students are having difficulties with their jackets, whether it be putting them on or zipping them up. We would like you to try to encourage them to try first and then you can help them. When there are a lot of kids in the classroom, this can use up quite a bit of time helping to get jackets on or zip them. Also, we only have a couple students who are able to tie shoelaces themselves. Please have your child practice this at home. There are many tricks you can find online, if you need ideas for how to teach these skills.
Classroom Happenings: Dialogue with your child
Important information:
Challenge work: Your child can do the challenge work if they would like.
1) The answer is 9. What is the problem? (There can be many answers for this. How many can you come up with?)
2) Make a book about your favorite animal. Make sure you have a title for your book.
Have a fabulous weekend!
