Monday, February 19th, there is no school for Presidents’ Day.
Thank you to all of the parents that donated items for our valentine party. We really appreciated it. Huge thank you to all of the parents and grandparents that came and helped out at the Valentine party. Thank you!!!
We have continued to work on ‘it’ words (example: sit, lit). Practice some ‘it’ words at home. Write some ‘it’ words down and see if your child can sound them out or read them. Give them some ‘it’ words to spell.
We learned the word ‘here’ this week. Have your child write the word ‘here’ in a sentence.
We have been working on part/part/whole in math. This is a hard concept for some students. If you start with a number, what can you break it up into? Or if you have the parts, what does it equal?
Please remind your child that they need to leave toys at home. We have been having a lot of problems with toys in the classroom causing distractions. Even when left in backpacks, students are walking back to play in their backpacks. I have told the kids that if I see them playing with toys during our work time, the toys will go on my desk or in the June Box. Yikes! :-)
Classroom Happenings: Dialogue with your child
Challenge Work: 1) How many different ways can you find to get to 13? 2) How many syllables are in these words a) banana b) watermelon c) pear d) berry
Have a great three-day weekend. Nayoko
